Formed in 1991, CRADLE OF FILTH recorded two demos, Invoking The Unclean and Orgiastic Pleasures before they came up with the often-bootlegged demo Total Fucking Darkness which resulted in them getting signed to Cacophonous Records at the end of 1993. Metal fans soon realised that CRADLE OF FILTH were something special. No other band could claim musical influences such as Celtic Frost, Bathory and Diamanda Galas while citing authors including Lord Byron, Sheridan LeFanu, Friedrich Nietzsche, Bram Stoker and Charles Baudelaire, The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh was released in April 1994 and was amazingly successful, but things went seriously wrong between CRADLE OF FILTH and Cacophonous Records while simultaneously several band members were replaced. The mini-album Vempire Or Dark Faerytales In Phallustein was released on Cacophonous to finalise the severing of that relationship.

The girl went on her knees, and bent over me, simply gloating. Lower and lower went her head... I closed my eyes in languorous ecstasy and waited, waited with beating heart.

CRADLE OF FILTH rejoice in exploring the shadowy place where vampirism blurs into eroticism, the same intriguing enigma described in that passage from Bram Stoker's Dracula.

In true Cradle Of Filth style, ‘Lovecraft & Witch Hearts’ not only features what are considered to be, the best tracks from their
3 albums and 1 E.P. with Music For Nations (‘Dusk And Her Embrace’, ‘Cruelty And The Beast’, ‘From The Cradle To Enslave’ and ‘Midian’)

New Album Details..........

The band are due to go into the studio to record their first album for a major label at the
beginning of May with a brief respite in recording to allow the band to perform at next year
Dynamo festival in Holland. The legendary Donington festival in England may also play host
to Cradle next Summer, with a guest appearance already being penciled in.
Plans are also afoot for a full South American tour sometime after the album's completion
late next Summer, perhaps around late September/possibly early October time.

The album itself looks like being another conceptual work (much in the vein that
"Cruelty And The Beast" was) with a tentative working title of "Damnation And A Day",
with two songs already written and two more to be completed before the Xmas sojourn.
January will then bear witness to the band demoing several of the tracks in New Rising
studios, Peldon, where they recorded the "Bitter Suites.." offering earlier this year.

and in some cities they've had to move to larger venues due to their high demand. After the current European tour,

Cradles Fifth Album

Recording is underway at Parkgate Studios, East Sussex, on CRADLE OF FILTH's eagerly awaited fifth full-length album,
'Midian', which is due for release on Halloween 2000. 'Midian' will be the first CRADLE OF FILTH release to feature new
keyboard player, Martin Powell, who joined the band earlier in the year and is known for his work with My Dying Bride and
Anathema. The album is being produced by John Fryer, who has worked with NIN, White Zombie, HIM, and is also the man
responsible for C.O.F.'s last opus 'From the Cradle To Enslave'.

Recruited to appear on the album with CRADLE OF FILTH is horror icon Doug Bradley who starred
as 'Pinhead' in the massively successful Hellraiser movies.

Currently in production in tandem with 'Midian' is Cradle Of Fear, a movie featuring Dani Filth.
Dani plays a character called The Man who believes he is a vampire, killing and torturing men
and women alike. Cradle Of Fear is the latest dark offering from the warped mind of cult director
Alex Chandon (PanDaemonAeon, Pervirella). Also starring in Cradle Of Fear are Emily Bouffante
(BITZ, Pervirella) and Eileen Daly (Razorblade Smile), as well as all of Cradle Of Filth making
cameo appearances. Released simultaneously with 'Midian', the film will be available only via
the Internet where classification rules and regulations do not apply. Be prepared!

COF will be touring Europe and the UK in November and December 2000, and have announced that
they will play a Kerrang! sponsored show as part of the Kerrang! X-Fest on December 15th 2000.
Be patient! Dates will be appearing on Cradle's Official website soon...
